Ingredients
  

For the Brisket
  • 1 piece Beef Brisket opt for one with good marbling
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil or vegetable oil
For the Aromatics
  • 1 medium Onion yellow or white onions
  • 4 cloves Garlic fresh, minced
For the Cooking Liquid
  • 2 cups Beef Broth or vegetable broth
  • 1 cup Barbecue Sauce select according to taste
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar or substitute with honey
  • 1/4 cup Apple Cider Vinegar or lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce or soy sauce
For the Seasonings
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked Paprika or regular paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Chili Powder or chipotle chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper optional
  • to taste Black Pepper
  • to taste Salt

Method
 

Steps
  1. Trim excess fat from the beef brisket, leaving a thin layer for flavor. Rinse, pat dry, and set aside.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  3. Sear brisket for 3-4 minutes on each side until browned. Remove from skillet.
  4. In the same skillet, add onions and garlic; sauté for about 5 minutes until softened.
  5. Combine beef broth, barbecue sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and spices in a bowl.
  6. Pour sauce over onions and garlic in the skillet, return brisket, cover, and cook on low for 4-6 hours.
  7. Check for tenderness after cooking; brisket should be easily shreddable.
  8. Remove brisket, let it rest for 30 minutes, then shred and mix back into the sauce before serving.
