- Trim excess fat from the beef brisket, leaving a thin layer for flavor. Rinse, pat dry, and set aside.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
- Sear brisket for 3-4 minutes on each side until browned. Remove from skillet.
- In the same skillet, add onions and garlic; sauté for about 5 minutes until softened.
- Combine beef broth, barbecue sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and spices in a bowl.
- Pour sauce over onions and garlic in the skillet, return brisket, cover, and cook on low for 4-6 hours.
- Check for tenderness after cooking; brisket should be easily shreddable.
- Remove brisket, let it rest for 30 minutes, then shred and mix back into the sauce before serving.
