Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Begin by slicing a medium onion and spreading it evenly on the bottom of your slow cooker.
  2. Next, lay your chosen beef roast on top of the onions in the slow cooker.
  3. Carefully pour in the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce over the roast.
  4. Sprinkle garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, black pepper, and salt over the roast and broth.
  5. Cover the slow cooker with its lid and set it to cook on LOW for 8 hours or HIGH for 4-5 hours.
  6. Once the cooking time is complete, carefully remove the beef and place it on a cutting board to shred.
  7. Strain the broth in the slow cooker to remove any solids, then return it to the pot.
  8. To thicken the gravy, mix cornstarch with cold water to create a slurry, stir into the broth, and let thicken.
  9. To assemble, start with a slice of bread on each plate, top with mashed potatoes, then shredded beef, and gravy.
