In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
Add the flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Stir until a dough begins to form.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until it has doubled in size.
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat up.
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into two equal portions. Roll out one portion on a floured surface to about 12 inches in diameter.
Carefully transfer the rolled-out dough to a piece of parchment paper or a floured pizza peel.
Spread ¾ cup of pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
Sprinkle 1 ½ cups of mozzarella cheese over the sauce, then add your desired toppings.
Slide the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
Remove from the oven, sprinkle with oregano and garlic powder, slice, and serve hot.
