  • 4 tbsp Butter or margarine
  • 1/4 cup Flour or cornstarch for gluten-free
  • 1.5 cups Shredded Cheese mix different cheeses like mozzarella or gouda

  • to taste Dry Mustard
For the Pasta Layer
  • 2 cups Macaroni Pasta or gluten-free pasta

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, onion, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  3. Transfer the mixture into a greased baking dish and press it down evenly. Bake for about 20 minutes.
  4. Cook the macaroni in boiling salted water according to package instructions until just al dente.
  5. In a saucepan, melt the butter, stir in the flour to create a roux, then gradually add the milk, stirring until thickened.
  6. Season the sauce with salt, pepper, paprika, and mustard and fold in the shredded cheese until melted.
  7. Mix the cooked macaroni into the cheese sauce until well coated.
  8. Spread the macaroni and cheese mixture over the prepared meatloaf and sprinkle remaining cheese on top.
  9. Bake for an additional 25 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  10. Let the casserole rest for at least 10 minutes before slicing to serve.
