Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon gochujang Korean chili paste
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 green onions sliced (for garnish)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds for garnish
  • Cooked rice for serving

Method

  1. In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  2. Stir in the minced garlic and ginger, cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Add the ground turkey to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, gochujang, rice vinegar, and black pepper. Pour this sauce over the cooked turkey mixture and stir to combine.
  5. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
  6. Serve the turkey mixture over cooked rice and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
