  • 2 teaspoons Active Dry Yeast ensure it's fresh
  • 1 tablespoon White Granulated Sugar feeds yeast
  • 3 cups Bread Flour or all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Salt kosher or sea salt preferred
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil or melted coconut oil
Topping Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter melted for the topping
  • 1/2 cup Light Brown Sugar or dark brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Cinnamon can add nutmeg for extra flavor
Icing Ingredients
  • 1 cup Powdered Sugar aim for fine powder
  • 2 tablespoons Milk almond or oat milk for dairy-free
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract or almond extract

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Combine warm water with sugar and sprinkle yeast over. Let sit for 10-15 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a larger bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Add yeast mixture and olive oil, stir to form a sticky dough.
  3. Cover dough and refrigerate for at least 12 hours to rise.
  4. Preheat oven to 450°F. Grease baking pan with melted butter, transfer and spread the risen dough.
  5. Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1.5 to 2 hours.
  6. Melt unsalted butter over medium heat until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.
  7. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon in a bowl, then stir in cooled brown butter.
  8. Dimple the risen dough, drizzle the cinnamon topping evenly over it.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and the edges are crispy.
  10. Whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth for icing.
  11. Drizzle icing over the warm focaccia.
