Step-by-Step Instructions
- Start by preparing your mashed potatoes if you don’t have leftovers. Boil peeled potatoes until fork-tender, around 15–20 minutes. Drain and mash them until smooth, and let the mixture cool completely to create a firm base for your Air Fryer Cheesy Mashed Potato Balls.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the chilled mashed potatoes with shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese, grated Parmesan, a beaten egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir everything together until you achieve a well-combined, cohesive mixture.
- Using your hands, scoop about 2 tablespoons of the cheesy potato mixture and roll it into a ball shape. Repeat this process until you’ve transformed all the potato mixture into delightful balls.
- Prepare a shallow dish with breadcrumbs for coating. Carefully roll each potato ball in the breadcrumbs to evenly cover the entire surface.
- Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes. Once hot, lightly spray each coated potato ball with cooking spray. Place the balls in the air fryer basket in a single layer, and air fry for 8–10 minutes.
- After cooking, carefully remove the crispy Air Fryer Cheesy Mashed Potato Balls and let them cool for a couple of minutes. Serve them warm with your choice of dipping sauces.
