Method

Step-by-Step Instructions for Homemade Ciabatta Bread
  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 3 cups of all-purpose or bread flour, 1 ¼ teaspoons of salt, and 1 teaspoon of instant yeast until well combined.
  2. Pour in 1 cup of lukewarm water, heated to around 100°F (38°C). Mix until a sticky and shaggy dough forms, about 2–3 minutes.
  3. Cover the bowl with a kitchen towel and let the dough rise in a warm area for about 1 hour.
  4. Lightly flour your working surface. Gently turn out the dough, folding it over itself a few times into a loose rectangle.
  5. Transfer the shaped dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and dust it with flour. Cover with a kitchen towel and let it rest for an additional 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). Once preheated, bake the ciabatta bread for 22 to 25 minutes.
  7. Transfer the ciabatta to a wire rack and allow it to cool completely before slicing.
