Method
 

Basic Steps
  1. Begin by peeling your sweet potatoes completely and cutting them into even chunks, about 1-inch thick.

  3. Once fork-tender, carefully drain the sweet potatoes and let them sit in the pot for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  4. Using a potato ricer or hand masher, thoroughly mash the sweet potatoes in a large mixing bowl.
  5. Warm your half-and-half (or milk) and butter until melted, then mix into the mashed sweet potatoes.
  6. Transfer the creamy mashed sweet potatoes to a serving bowl and sprinkle optional cinnamon on top for garnish.
