Ingredients

  • 2 pounds flank steak
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter softened
  • 6 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley chopped (optional, for garnish)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Method

  1. Start by patting the flank steak dry with paper towels. This helps to achieve a good sear.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika until well combined.
  3. Rub the garlic butter mixture all over the flank steak, ensuring it’s evenly coated. Let it marinate at room temperature for about 30 minutes to enhance the flavor.
  4. Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat and add the olive oil.
  5. Once the oil is hot, add the marinated flank steak to the pan. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until it reaches your desired doneness.
  6. Remove the steak from the pan and let it rest for 10 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute.
  7. Slice the steak against the grain into thin strips. Serve warm, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

  • For best results, use a meat thermometer to check for doneness: 130°F for medium-rare, 140°F for medium.
  • If you prefer a different cut of meat, ribeye or sirloin can also work well in this recipe.
  • For added flavor, consider marinating the steak overnight in the garlic butter mixture.
