  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9x13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together melted butter, dark brown sugar, and maple syrup until smooth.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla extract, whisking until fully combined.
  4. Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl.
  5. Fold dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  6. If desired, fold in pecans or white chocolate chips.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick comes out mostly clean.
  9. Allow to cool in pan before lifting out and slicing into squares.
