- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, sauté the diced onion until translucent, about 3-5 minutes. Then add the ground beef and cook until browned.
- Sprinkle in taco seasoning and a splash of water. Let simmer for 2-3 minutes.
- Mix in the undrained chili beans and salsa or Rotel. Simmer for another 2-3 minutes.
- Spread half of the tortilla chips in the baking dish, add the beef mixture, and top with shredded cheese.
- Bake uncovered for 15-20 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let sit for a few minutes, then add desired toppings and serve.
