Equipment

  • Skillet

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Begin by placing a large skillet over medium heat and allow it to warm up for about 2 minutes. Swirl in a drizzle of oil to help in browning and to prevent sticking.
  2. Add the ground beef to the hot skillet and cook it for about 7–10 minutes until it’s fully browned. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Stir in the chopped onion and minced garlic and let them cook for about 3–5 minutes until the onion becomes translucent.
  4. Add your diced potatoes into the skillet along with salt, pepper, paprika, and dried oregano. Stir for about 1–2 minutes.
  5. Cover the skillet and reduce the heat slightly to medium-low. Cook for about 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally until fork-tender.
  6. Once the potatoes are tender, sprinkle a generous layer of shredded cheese over the top and cover to cook for another 3–5 minutes until melted.
  7. Remove from heat, let sit for a minute before serving hot. Optionally garnish with fresh herbs.
