  • 1 tablespoon Sugar can be reduced or swapped for honey
  • 2 teaspoons Yeast ensure it's fresh
  • 4 cups All-Purpose Flour substitute 50% with whole wheat for a healthy twist
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher Salt avoid table salt
  • 1/4 cup Olive Oil can be replaced with plant-based oil
For the Flavors
  • 4 cloves Minced Garlic fresh is preferred
  • 1 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese can swap with mozzarella
  • Fresh Herbs (optional) rosemary or thyme make excellent choices
  • Flaky Sea Salt (optional) for topping

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water and sugar, stirring gently until dissolved. Sprinkle the yeast evenly over the surface and let it sit for 5-10 minutes.
  2. Add in all-purpose flour, kosher salt, and olive oil. Stir until a sticky dough forms.
  3. Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel and let the dough rise for 1 to 1½ hours.
  4. Prepare your toppings: mince fresh garlic, grate Parmesan cheese, and chop any herbs you wish to use.
  5. Generously coat a baking pan with olive oil. Transfer the dough to the pan and stretch it towards the edges.
  6. Using your fingertips, press deep dimples into the surface of the dough.
  7. Evenly sprinkle the minced garlic, grated Parmesan cheese, and herbs across the surface of the dough.
  8. Cover the topped dough lightly with a towel and let it rise for another 20-30 minutes. Preheat your oven to 425°F.
  9. Bake the focaccia for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Allow it to cool for at least 10 minutes before slicing.
