Step-by-Step Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water and sugar, stirring gently until dissolved. Sprinkle the yeast evenly over the surface and let it sit for 5-10 minutes.
- Add in all-purpose flour, kosher salt, and olive oil. Stir until a sticky dough forms.
- Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel and let the dough rise for 1 to 1½ hours.
- Prepare your toppings: mince fresh garlic, grate Parmesan cheese, and chop any herbs you wish to use.
- Generously coat a baking pan with olive oil. Transfer the dough to the pan and stretch it towards the edges.
- Using your fingertips, press deep dimples into the surface of the dough.
- Evenly sprinkle the minced garlic, grated Parmesan cheese, and herbs across the surface of the dough.
- Cover the topped dough lightly with a towel and let it rise for another 20-30 minutes. Preheat your oven to 425°F.
- Bake the focaccia for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Allow it to cool for at least 10 minutes before slicing.
