  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil Can be substituted with butter.
  • 4 cloves Minced garlic Fresh garlic recommended.
  • 1 cup Chicken broth Vegetable broth can be used.
  • 1 cup Heavy cream Can use half-and-half or coconut milk.
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese Use aged or Grana Padano as alternatives.
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning Fresh herbs can be used.
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
For the Tortellini and Veggies
  • 9 oz Cheese tortellini Can be substituted with gluten-free tortellini.
  • 2 cups Broccoli florets
  • 1/4 cup Fresh parsley For garnish.

Method
 

Cooking Steps
  1. In a large skillet, heat over medium heat and add the Italian sausage. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, breaking it apart with a spatula until browned.
  2. In the same skillet, add 2 tablespoons of olive oil to the sausage drippings and add the minced garlic, stirring for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Pour in 1 cup of chicken broth and 1 cup of heavy cream, stirring to combine. Simmer gently, then add 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese and 1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning, stirring until melted.
  4. Prepare tortellini in salted boiling water for 3-4 minutes, adding broccoli in the last 2-3 minutes. Ensure they remain tender yet firm.
  5. Drain tortellini and broccoli, then transfer to the skillet with the creamy sauce and browned sausage. Toss until coated.
  6. Heat combined ingredients for an additional 2-3 minutes. Check seasoning, adding salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley for added brightness.
