Cooking Steps
- In a large skillet, heat over medium heat and add the Italian sausage. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, breaking it apart with a spatula until browned.
- In the same skillet, add 2 tablespoons of olive oil to the sausage drippings and add the minced garlic, stirring for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Pour in 1 cup of chicken broth and 1 cup of heavy cream, stirring to combine. Simmer gently, then add 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese and 1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning, stirring until melted.
- Prepare tortellini in salted boiling water for 3-4 minutes, adding broccoli in the last 2-3 minutes. Ensure they remain tender yet firm.
- Drain tortellini and broccoli, then transfer to the skillet with the creamy sauce and browned sausage. Toss until coated.
- Heat combined ingredients for an additional 2-3 minutes. Check seasoning, adding salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley for added brightness.
