Ingredients

For the Meatballs
  • 1 lb Ground Turkey Feel free to swap in chicken or beef.
  • 1 medium Apple Granny Smith or Honeycrisp works best.
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs Use panko breadcrumbs for a light crunch.
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese Substitute with mozzarella or nutritional yeast for dairy-free.
  • 1 large Egg Avoid substitutions unless using a flax egg.
  • 2 tbsp Fresh Sage Dried sage can be used but in lesser amounts.
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced; garlic powder can substitute.
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Pepper
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil Can substitute with canola or avocado oil.

Equipment

  • Large Bowl
  • Skillet
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment Paper

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, grated apple, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, chopped fresh sage, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined, about 2-3 minutes.
  2. Pinch off portions of the mixture and roll them into 1-inch meatballs. Place formed meatballs on a parchment-lined tray.
  3. Heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once shimmering, add the meatballs and cook for 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and cooked through.
  4. For a healthier option, preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake meatballs on a parchment-lined sheet for 15-20 minutes.
  5. Once cooked, transfer the meatballs to a serving platter. Serve over pasta, in sliders, or with vegetables.
