Description

Delicious spaghetti served in crusty sourdough bread bowls, topped with melted cheese and fresh basil.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large sourdough bread bowls
  • 8 ounces spaghetti
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F.
  2. Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes, sautéing for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet, along with the marinara sauce, salt, and black pepper. Toss to combine and heat through for about 2-3 minutes.
  5. Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the mozzarella cheese until melted and well combined.
  6. While the pasta is heating, hollow out the sourdough bread bowls, leaving about a 1-inch border.
  7. Fill each bread bowl with the cheesy spaghetti mixture, packing it in gently.
  8. Sprinkle the tops with grated Parmesan cheese.
  9. Place the filled bread bowls on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the bread is crispy and the cheese is bubbly.
  10. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired before serving.

Notes

  • For a twist, try adding cooked Italian sausage or sautéed vegetables like bell peppers and mushrooms to the pasta mixture.
  • You can also substitute the marinara sauce with Alfredo sauce for a creamy version.
