Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
- Powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and then add the milk and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. The batter should be thick but pourable.
- In a deep skillet or pot, heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F.
- Using a small cookie scoop or spoon, drop tablespoon-sized amounts of batter into the hot oil. Fry in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan.
- Fry the bites for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and drain on paper towels.
- Once all the bites are fried, dust generously with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
- For a twist, try adding a teaspoon of cocoa powder to the batter for chocolate-flavored bites.
- Alternatively, serve with a side of fruit preserves or chocolate sauce for dipping.
