Description
A simple and delicious recipe for Honey Walnut Shrimp, featuring crispy shrimp coated in a sweet and creamy sauce, topped with caramelized walnuts.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup walnuts
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon sweetened condensed milk
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
- 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
- Cooked white rice (for serving)
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, bring 1 cup of water to a boil. Add the walnuts and boil for 2 minutes. Drain and rinse the walnuts under cold water.
- In the same saucepan, add the drained walnuts and 1/2 cup of honey. Cook over medium heat for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently until the walnuts are golden brown and caramelized. Remove from heat and set aside.
- In a medium bowl, combine mayonnaise, sweetened condensed milk, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and set aside.
- In another bowl, toss the shrimp with cornstarch until evenly coated.
- In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp in batches and fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden and cooked through. Remove the shrimp and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- In a large bowl, combine the fried shrimp with the mayonnaise mixture and toss until the shrimp are well coated.
- Top the shrimp with the caramelized walnuts and garnish with sliced green onions.
- Serve the honey walnut shrimp over cooked white rice.
Notes
- For a spicy kick, add a teaspoon of sriracha to the mayonnaise mixture.
- Substitute the walnuts with cashews or almonds for a different flavor profile.
